The Freeper-Identify Which is a Bomb Test (educational vanity)

Posted on 09/19/2015 8:52:24 PM PDT by Cubs Fan

I was surprised to see a lot of freepers getting mad at a teacher for not knowing how to correctly identify what is or isn't a bomb. (I am generally happy when a teacher just knows their own subject matter but I guess some here expect them to be demolitions experts as well)

So I devised a little test to see how many armchair teachers think they could have done better

So let's begin--who can correctly identify which of these ten picture are of bombs and which are not.

If you see something, say something.

We'll come pick you up for re-education camp.

Well... they’re all red, and underlined, and all have the same exact words, so it’s either all of them or none of them. The only bomb component is the numbers 1-10. Where’s the BOOM. There was supposed to be a loud BOOM.

The boom happens some day when a muslim kid comes to school and a teacher decides its better not to be an islamophobe than call the cops on his "homemade clock"

I would have called the police had he brought any one of those into my classroom including the shiny new pressure cooker

Alright, I'll give it a go ...

#1 No. Hobbyist project made up to be scary looking.

#2 Yes. AQ/Yemen.

#3 No. Theatrical prop.

#4 Yes. Cell phone bomb?

#5 Yes. Chechen.

#6 Yes. The lid from one of these was found on the roof a building along Boyleston Street.

#7 Yes. Makeshift incendiary device designed to be constructed after passing through security.

#8 Yes. That's a Ted Special, lovingly crafted in the wilds of Montana.

#9 No. Salesman's kit from the 80's.

#10 No. Hobbyist project.

The teacher was not a demolitions expert so she did the right thing and called someone who is. IMO its better to be an alive (pseudo) Islamophobe than a dead dhimmi.

Teach was a moron. Educators generally are.

What’s the deal with #6? Am I supposed to call the bomb squad on anyone whom cans at home?

Also, #9 is a Honeywell sales demo kit, that has been widely and incorrectly identified as a bomb.

#9 is not a bomb, despite Internet memes to the contrary.

Hang on a second. If you really believe #6 is a bomb, then you need to call the bomb squad on anyone with a pressure cooker, which is clearly wrong. I know canning and prepping are not in style anymore, but that doesn’t mean anyone whom cans food is a criminal.

that's pretty slick that you neven knew the sources for each. A little too slick. You obviously looked them up on google or somewhere else. The teascher didn't have that ability for ahmed's little clock did she?

Shame shame. Sticking up for a muslim scammer over a teacher. Ever considered working for Obama?

the point is a pressure can be used as a bomb, not that every pressure cooker is a bomb, dodo.

BTW are you cheering while Obama brings little ahmed to the white house and plays America is a horrible islamophobic country? Yep, probably.

I haven’t followed the details of this story, so my ignorance might show in my post. Has this student said or done things in the past to cause the teacher to mistrust him? Some teachers are a bit overly paranoid of students. Some are not paranoid enough. Does this boy have a history of scaring people?

Well, hell, if you are going to show pictures of things that CAN be turned into bombs, the test should show cars, trucks, 55 gal. drums—you name it. Your picture of a pressure cooker looks like it was pulled from walmart.com or Amazon.com. Clearly it’s not a bomb, it’s a pressure cooker.

If you read my previous posts on the topic, you will see that I’m pissed that Ahmed is going to the White House. Furthermore, the chain of blame for this starts with the teacher who called the cops on Ahmed in the first place, and goes all the way up to and including all the folks on this and other forums whom are cheering it on.

Well, sitting in front of my computer, I actually heard the third pressure cooker bomb detonate off in the distance (about five miles away, during the battle of Watertown, in which the elder Tsarnaev became a speed bump for the younger's temporary escape). I had been paying attention since the report of Officer Collier's murder earlier in the evening. The chase was all but certain to be connected to the fleeing brothers.

But you are right. #6 is not a bomb unless loaded with explosives hooked up to a credible detonation system. The brothers apparently used a 2.4ghz model car remote rewired to energize a Christmas tree bulb carefully broken in such a way as to ensure the filament remained intact and inserted into the explosive material, which was extracted from fireworks legally purchased in nearby New Hampshire.

Note that the Tsarnaev boys didn't use a stinkin' clock, digital or otherwise. The used a well-engineered remote control, which was highly resistant to spurious RF. That's important if a terrorist wants to avoid work accidents in an RF-rich environment, such as downtown Boston.

that's pretty slick that you neven knew the sources for each.

You're the one who would know the sources. Do tell us. Did you find those on your own? Or did a Soros-funded organization help you?

Shame shame. Sticking up for a muslim scammer over a teacher. Ever considered working for Obama?

Those who can, do.

Those who can't, teach.

Those who can't teach, administrate.

In this case, teach, her administrator, and the City of Irvine all fell for it, hook, line and sinker. Giving Zero and the rest of the leftist grievance industry something to run with! Epic fail!

Here's some educational reading from Michael Graham on the topic:

I don’t know much about Texas 9th grader Ahmed Mohamed, so when Twitter asks me to join #IStandWithAhmed movement, I’m ambivelent.

But if someone’s starting an #IStandAgainstZeroToleranceStupidityAndOverReactingCops movement…sign me up!

The issue in the “Holy Crap– A CLOCK!” story isn’t that the science-geek kid who built a homemade clock and brought it to school to show to a teacher is a Muslim. It’s the fact that we conservatives have helped create a very un-conservative, anti-common-sense “Zero-Tolerance-Policy” society of big-government overreach and cowardly-citizen panic. The most important “news” in this story is that it’s not. News, that is. This stuff happens all the time.

Just last week, for example: “13-Year-Old Boy Kisses Girl On A Dare. Now Faces Charges”

Then there’s the 9-year-old suspended from school for calling his teacher “cute.”

The junior-high student charged by sheriff and kicked out of school for a year for a plant that LOOKED LIKE pot, but wasn’t.

...

That was clever of them. It still doesn’t cast suspicion on all pressure cookers, and for the purposes of the test, since we can’t see inside the pressure cooker, it’s just a pressure cooker, not a bomb.

The test should have included a U-Haul truck, a la McVeigh et al. It *can* contain a bomb, but is not a bomb.

As long as they aren’t in the shape of a bomb, they’re not Campbell’s Cream of Bomb, and they’re not halal, they should be fine.

“’If you see something say something”

If your intent is to touch off small scale IED/Boston bombing type bombs the first thing you need to do is stop “if you see something say something”.

One good thing, the people that are too PC to say something are the loony left which means they are the one that are going to be targeted with the IEDs.

No.

When someone leaves a pressure cooker on the ground in a crowd of people walk up to it, stand over it, take a real good look and continue to stand by it without saying a word to anyone.
