I know dogs, and I know people, and I can tell you that I like dogs. Adolf Hilter
“Flammable, inflammable & nonflammable... Why are there three? Don’t you think that two ought to serve the purpose? I mean either the thing flams or it doesn’t!” — George Carlin
Ditto.
Plus a quote from the bible Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
Between those two I manage to realize how despicable I am in the sight of God and thank the Lord for Jesus Christ my Savior.
I’ve always loved this one - though I’ve thought of it more as a philosophy than a quote.
You are not despicable. Jehovah is your Father and he loves you. Would you despise your child for imperfection? Neither does He, as He is a far superior parent to any of us. (though yes, of course, we should try our best to live up to His perfect standards).
“It is better to take a chance in life to win a victory or suffer defeat even though scarred by failure ... than to live in the shadow of life as some do never knowing a victory or defeat because they have not the guts to try either!”
Evel Knievel
Never take to sawin’ on the branch that’s supportin’ you, unless you’re being’ hung from it.
I have too many to choose. I have an addiction to quotes.
That affection is only possible in those who never raised pigs. Waiting until fall was always the hardest part of killing pigs for me. Feral pigs were one of the greatest hazards in WWII.
Men are like steel; when they lose their temper, they lose their strength. -—Chuck Norris
There is no greater pain a man can suffer than to have insight into much and control over nothing. -—Herodotus

Have you seen ‘waking Ned Devine’?
Yet I feel the guilt of my sins requiring his sacrifice none the less. I know I’m saved, and that I sin still bears upon my soul a burden I wish I did not have to carry. Some say that means I’m not saved at all, yet I know his power is far greater than any mere intellectual consciousness I may possess. I am in awe of what he has done for me and I weep that he suffered so on such a miscreant as I. Would any child not do the same should his Father suffer for him?
Everything you said in that post I agree with. Still, you should not see yourself as despicable, but as He sees you, an imperfect yet beloved child.
And yes, of course, we should all be in awe with the gratitude of what he has given us, just with His creation and our present life, and then on top of that, the chance for (unearned) eternal life!
Sorry I got a bit caught up in my thoughts and ... didn’t mean to seem so, well,.. preachy
No, haven’t seen that one. Lots of pig stories, though—like having Catholic friends call the house to say that our pigs were rooting up the church’s lawn. And having the entire football team skip practice to catch five of them—actually a lot harder than regular practice.
I’d kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

But that is not what I have found.
I have found that it is the small things, ordinary deeds of everyday folk that keeps the darkness at bay.
Simple acts of kindness and of love......
