Do yourself a favor and upgrade. Don't think of it as a chore but rather a learning experience. Get a glass of your favorite beverage, sit down, and hit"Upgrade."

For some reason, probably because their Mommy dressed them funny, some FReepers delight in exhibiting their IT ignorance by scaring other FReepers with dire warnings about the horror of upgrading.

When in reality, logic keeps on working. For instance, VW is in trouble. Firings, criminal charges, diving stock prices... And that is in Europe! Can you imagine the hullabaloo if a big American corporation did that? Oh My!

I use a car company as an example because most older Americans understand cars. Computers not so much, so rumors and fairy tales thrive in the absence of understanding.

Windows 10 is a really good operating system. It has delightful features, which if you have no idea about user interface design, seem to be magic. They are not magic, but a feature discussed by a team, discussed with corporate attorneys, and then put out for Beta testing before they ever get incorporated into the OS.

So still your nervous heart and upgrade. It is an enjoyable experience and you will be glad you did.

lol! This would be the first time in my life I have been accused of "IT ignorance". Funny!

I don't upgrade because I don't want to be a guinea pig for the Microsoft Corporation. Anyone, you included, should fell free to do so if that is your wish. To accuse me of "IT ignorance" accomplishes nothing but put your own ignorance on display. Good show.

Upgrading from 8.x is a terrific idea. If someone doesn't like 8.x, they probably will consider 10 an improvement. If they did like 8.x, they should absolutely love 10.

OTOH, those of us who are quite content with 7 may choose to stick with it at least for a while because 10 brings nothing to the table that makes up for the differences we don't much enjoy.

In my case, I've been using Windows continuously since the late 1980's. I've adjusted to every change in the interface, and at Win2K I found what I find to be the most productive and comfortable. So I really like the Classic interface, which is still available (with a bit of tweaking) with 7 but is impossible with 8.x and 10, even with the retro shell add-ons.

You are welcome to dismiss my choice as "no accounting for taste". But there are a lot of folks like me. Microsoft will be supporting 7 until 2020 because we will still be using it.

LOL. No, not that. I've been a system admin for over a decade and I was a computer systems design engineer for 30 years before that. Might want to keep an eye on your fingers, they're typing some foolish stuff. :-)

BTW you appear to be quite the Microsoft/Windows fan. I sincerely and heartily invite you to join the Windows Ping List. Interested?
