Yes - that’s what it looks like to me. Badly burned cow that succumbed to it’s injuries.
You have a good point there. The thing appears to have ears like a cow would. The only thing deformed is probably it’s snout. And it does look burned. Even it’s nose/nostrils look like a cow.
My guess it’s a deformed cow the natives burned for some reason.
