NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Donald Trump and Ben Carson are comfortably ahead of the rest of the pack vying for the Republican presidential nomination, according to a CBS News poll.

Trump remains the GOP front-runner, holding steady in the poll, released Sunday, with the same 27 percent support he saw last month. Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, is still in second place with 21 percent — he had 23 percent in September.

Carson had 23% in September.

Apparently he’s slightly lower this month.

They’re #1 and #2 at the moment though.

Why did he go on a binge about Hitler for the arms thing?

The British were coming to remove the arms of the inhabitants. It was the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Why not use our own country for the example?

For some reason...but can't quite put my finger on it, I just don't like Carson.

Maybe it's his analogies....that don't quite work. He seems to drift off on these little tangents. Like he did with the Muslim President thing.

Then there's his trip to Ferguson....He said he would have never shot the 300 lb thug.

Trump @ 27% & holding, GOP-E @ 15% with their choices’. They still don't get it, and never will. We want to save the country and they want to save themselves. I never thought of myself as a “rino”, but I guess I am, cause these fools are not republicans!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am very big on Donald’s strong support of American jobs.

That is a very big thing. And nobody else is standing up on this issue.

Even the dems are out to lunch. Trump is looking out for working Americans.

Big time.

I agree with the thread from the article last week
If it were Yeb! at 27%-30% in the polls the press would be trumpeting how the race is all but over

The longer Trump stays on top the harder it will be for the other candidates to catch him.

If we put Cruz and Carly in the not DC insiders group (Yea I know) we get 63% of the voters do not want a GOPe candidate. Wow, I expect Carly to lose most of her support to either Carson or Cruz. I don't see it going to Trump after his "face" remarks about Carly. JEB support is going to go to Rubio so my prediction for say 3 weeks from now is

Trump at 27 holding steady
Carson at 25 gets Carly voters
Rubio at 17 gets Jeb and Christy voters
Cruz at 9 holding steady
Carly at 2 about to drop out

It's when the race gets down to Trump, Carson, Rubio and Cruz that things get interesting. Will Rubio and Carson make a deal? What about Trump and Cruz, or maybe Trump Carson. Everyone is going to want Carsons' voters .... badly. The only two that will not make a deal is Rubio and Trump.

Why did he go on a binge about Hitler for the arms thing?

He didn't. The junk media did. Carson merely answered some questions with completely accurate statement and the Leftist, and the various GOPe campaign bots, lost their minds. Here is a suggestion you might want to listen to. Don't trash talk the other candidates. Make a case for your candidate. When you start out slandering other candidates, 2/3s the people here tune you out

Why is it any skin off of CBS’s rear end no matter WHO is in the lead?

He’s an odd duck, let’s face it.

He says some right things but I dont trust him as leader of the free world. I see no qualifications.

just because obummer has none doesn’t mean we want another.

trump is successful businessman.

Cruz argued in front of Supreme court.

Carson did surgery.

You couldn’t post his percentage? Had to make me open the site :)

Third place is nice!

If it’s competitive and close, my vote is for Cruz.

But I would pull general election level for Trump. What the heck.

Cruz!!

By the end of Colbert, he got applause. I dont care if it was tepid, it was applause from an amazingly liberal audience.

They started with boos.

He can win this thing

Trump or Carson may take it, and I won’t mind.

But Cruz is coming up on the outside. Cruz has ground game that Carson and Trump do not. Cruz has grass roots activists on fire, grass roots who have been through several cycles of the Tea Party revolution. Cruz has political instincts better than Carson, though perhaps nobody has the instincts of Trump for good or ill.

I love where Cruz is now. Third and rising. As seriousness becomes more of a requirement, I hope that Trump and Carson supporters can see that their goals are well met by Cruz who can take their ideas over the finish line.

I like all three guys. But I LOVE Cruz.
