CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs clinched a postseason series at Wrigley Field for the first time ever, getting home runs from Kyle Schwarber, Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez in beating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 Tuesday to win the NL Division Series in four games.
A day after hitting a postseason-record six homers, the Cubs hammered their way into the NL Championship Series by taking the best-of-five set before a rollicking crowd.

I went to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field in June of 1958. I don’t remember who won. But I still have my souvenir bat with “CUBS” printed on it, by the way it is real NC white ash wood.

This long-time Cardinals fan is happy, too. I went to lots of games at Busch Stadium with my Dad and Mom . . I once ‘danced’ with Fred Bird . . was asked out by a relief pitcher . . and when I got older, I have some great memories of letting my kids skip school occasionally . . and catching the Cardinals shuttle in to Busch stadium. My kids loved those afternoon games as much as I did. But we eventually moved to NC . . and our old Busch stadium is long gone. So my loyalties aren’t with the Cards now . . and waiting for a win since 1908 . . then having it come true . . is something dreams are made of. I want to be part of that dream come true. Go Cubs!!!

It is kinda funny that my kids think I am a traitor . . and not just to the Cardinals. They think their now-deceased Grandpa and Grandma would be very upset that I’m cheering for the Cubs. lol
