As the single cell ‘communicates’ does the bacteria have sentience and self-awareness? What assesses what is communicated? I suspect we are simply seeing an experiment which demonstrates a measurable difference of potential across the cell membrane or cell wall. This report is nonsense, clear and simple.

The importance of this study is not so much that they communicate as their behavior indicated that they do, it’s the similarity to our brain activity and that of other higher animals.
