Yes, I predate you. I hate to admit I’m getting old, NOT that I am actually getting old! LOL.

Yes, way back then, in the late 40’s - early 50’s when I can actually and vividly first remember events, incidents and word for conversations, PADRE Baseball games on either Saturday but usually Sunday at Lane Field were my favorite treat!

I loved that place. Everyone did.

Then we would take the Ferry Boat across the Bay to my grandmother’s house in Coronado for either Saturday or Sunday dinner.

Baseball on the radio is like heaven in the workshop.

My Giants are done, so I will root for the underdog.

And they will not win.

But I will listen.

*smiles*

I remember sitting in those bleachers and I remember almost all of those makes and models cars and even their year’s.

Is that picture from 1952?

The movie’s writers were probably smoking some serious weed when they wrote the script. They threw that in as a marijuana-induced joke.

Cubs win the Series? HA! ‘Bout the same chance as the Seahawks going to another Super Bowl. Slim to None....and Slim just left town.

Murphy breaks the record for consecutive homeruns in post season play with 6.
"Murphy's law" still in effect.

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
When the baseball season comes around?
When the snow goes away
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy-covered burial ground?
Oh, when I was a boy
The Cubs were my joy
But not they only bring fatigue
In the land of the free
The home of the brave
And the doormat of the National League.

A great photo from 1954 of legendary Lane Field taken by photographer Ray Hacecky. Lane Field was the home of the PCL San Diego Padres from 1936 to 1957.

The photo is from a 1 game playoff between the San Diego Padres and Hollywood Stars which determined the winner of the PCL pennant due to both teams finishing the regular season with the same record.

The Padres ended up beating the Stars 7 to 2 and clenched the pennant and advanced to the playoffs to face the Oakland Oaks. If you read the marquee it says “PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. HOLLYWOOD vs SAN DIEGO. TONIGHT 8:35.

Link: 4th photo down - all pics are wonderful!

Obama’s a White Sox fan, and like Yankees and Mets fans, the two groups do NOT get along.
