Why is it so different from farm subsidies in general, or subsidies for the Majors that were designed originally to help independent oil producers? Life is complicated. Dontyou remember how Paul Harvey, the conservative was such a shill for ethanol? It was supposed to be a fix for the depletion of our oil reserves. Politics works by fits and starts and people thrash around adjusting to real or imagined crises.
But Paul Harvey was an honest man, duped into believing the benefits of ethanol and not seeing the unintended consequences. He was not the kind to knowingly lie, unlike a majority of today's "journalists".
Meanwhile no mention of food prices being higher and our soil being depleted! We also have no problem about depleting oil reserves.
I really don't care what caused the ethanol subsidies, now that it is known that: It has raised the price of food; it damages engines and it REDUCES MPG; anyone that is still in favor on continuing the charade is either: (I) Ignorant; or (ii) Politically corrupt. Either way, Carson doesn't get my vote.
