You know.... Frampton is really a good guitarist, even today he is. I saw him at the Loyd Noble Center (Norman Oklahoma) in the late 70’s because my girl friend liked him a lot. Where he really crashed and burned was when he and the Bee Gees did that movie Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band. That DID NOT work....
Frampton is a very talented musician. Having said that “Frampton Comes Alive” signaled the beginning of the end for Rock ‘n Roll. May it rest in peace.
Ugh! We certainly did.
You did better with Zappa, believe me.
Yep, it was a standard at all the 1976 graduation parties. Too bad we didn’t video these concerts, the dvd’s would sell like hot cakes.
My girlfriend (now wife) was pretty turned off by Zappa....
I have seen those. Does make me feel old! BTW... That’s my favorite BTO song. I’ve used it for teaching guitar lessons for years. SIMPLE SIMPLE riff that works so good!
Agreed. BTO was one of my favorite groups - very underrated. The 2010 version is funny - hadn't seen anything of them in years and I was sort of wondering at the beginning when Randy's assistant plugs in his guitar for him. However, once he starts, you realize he's a long way from finished.
Agree... of course he was writting solid riffs for The Guess Who in his pre BTO days.... But yeah... he can still jam....
His “comeback” is doing fine. Still touring, still making new music. Just came through town. Saw him on the 35th anniversary tour of Comes Alive, hell of a show, played the whole old show in tour order (different than album order) took a quick intermission, came back and did another hour of new stuff.
Well good for those who like him. Glad you enjoyed the show.
Luckily for me he has been absent from the radio playlist.
But thats just me.
Saw him 3 x back in the day. 1976-1978 Me and my first serious GF’s favorite, so special memories. fast forward saw him again at the House of Blues Las Vegas, and a Catholic Church Festival in Brea California in the last dozen years or so Still in good voice and guitar licks. Shame his 2nd in command Bob Mayo died very unexpectedly while they were on Tour in Europe in 2004. A very young 52 years. He was still alive at the Las Vegas gig, a lot of memories.

Mark.
I was also in high school when this album was released. I think they gave you a copy when you got your driver’s license.
I consider this one of the three greatest live albums of all time, along with The Who “Live at Leeds” and The Allman Brothers “Live at Fillmore East.”
Thanks for the recommendations. I need some new sounds.
Yep. It was like a holy grail there for a while.
