Let;s face it: some people don’t listen very well. Carley uses words with great economy. She would do well in the House of Commons,

I would hope that Carly and Jeb would be out too. Can't believe anyone would vote for them as winners tonight.

"As to the no fly zone, a limited flight zone as described by another candidate makes a great deal of sense."

Yes it does.

IN that alternate universe where dumb people live.

It's impossible to set out a cogent, reasoned policy as to why the US has a single, minor interest, in Syria.

Especially with Russia already there undertaking military operations in support of the legal government.

And killing Islamist head-choppers.

Perhaps you share the philosophy of McCain, Clinton, Obama and other Cold Warriors?

Russia is doing the world a service. We should shoot down their planes because we have no interest there? Just so their influence in the world would be diminished?

I think Kasich & Bush lost. Bush more so than Kasich though both are probably gone soon. I can see Kasich in a cabinet. Bush should buy a boat.

I think that Carson and Trump were playing defense and just making sure they didn’t screw up. That is the right play for them. Of the two I think Trump was better but Carson did what he needed to do.

For guys I disagree with Rubio looked good but Paul looked better. If I didn’t know more about Paul’s stands I’d have liked him a lot.

I think the candidate that helped herself the most was iCarly. She is not my first choice or even second but I think she moved way up the ladder in the Veep sweepstakes. I liked that she attacked PIAPS

“I think Kasich & Bush lost”

Indeed. As usual, much easier to pick losers than winners, because most everyone else made some excellent points and spoke quite well.

I know a lot of words came out of Bush’s mouth, but they pretty much just went in one ear and came out the other as they didn’t seem to contain a lot of meaning or importance. Paul was actually riveting because he expressed himself so well about extremely vital topics.

Kasich I basically just wanted to strangle every time he opened his mouth and yammered on. Did you know Kasich’s father was a mailman, that Kasich was governor of Ohio, and that Ohio had a budget surplus when Kasich was governor there?

Speech is one thing. Accomplishing the goals are something else.

Carly did well, as she always does, and may get a bit of a bump in the polls, as a result.

I will go a step farther.
Next time they do one of these, assuming they are still in race Jeb and Kasich will be on the under-card.

Chris Christie on the other hand blew the other three away.

Jindal did pretty well but I don’t remember who the other two were. They need to buy a big screen and power-watch Netflix.

Jeb should have been in the first debate Christie on the main stage. Christie is a jerk but he makes more sense and a better case than Jeb.

I agree with you that Fiorina won. And I don’t hate Trump but the non-scientific polls that say he won by like 60%... Come are we now sinking to Democrat tactics in a Republican primary? No one won by 60% or whatever...

Yes, Chris Christie easily won the first debate, and was better than several of the later debaters.

It's impossible to set out a cogent, reasoned policy as to why the US has a single, minor interest, in Syria.

Really? Here are a few cogent reasons why the US has very many major interests in Syria which occurred to me as long ago as September 15 when they were posted:

Consider these implications:

Assad is supported by Teheran

Tehran supported by Moscow

Assad is now openly and militarily supported by Moscow

We have a Moscow/Teheran/Damascus axis

The participation of Russian warplanes in active combat suggests that the Russians are in Syria to stay. They certainly will have an airbase from which they can strike Israel and change the balance of power in the region. Expect them to become active in bombing Isis in Iraq as well, thus extending the Iran's hold over Iraqi the more.

The Russians are already being accommodated in a Mediterranean port by the Syrians and the airpower only compliments the Naval element, protects it, and augments it.

The presence of Russian warplanes in the area makes it much less likely that a new Republican president will strike militarily against Iran's nuclear facilities. Likewise, the Israelis have a new dimension on their flank should they choose to strike.

________________

From another older post:

There is a development immediately next-door to Iraq which will have profound long-term strategic implications for American survival and it is being ignored. If Iran gets the atomic bomb it will become an existential threat to the United States of American; it will fundamentally alter the balance of power in the Persian Gulf; it will disrupt oil supplies around the world and render oil a first use weapon of terrorism; it will ignite a nuclear arms race in that region; it will expose the United States to nuclear terror within the homeland.

Thus have we utterly mistaken the real threat to the very survival of the United States as a democratic republic. Without arguing in detail, I submit that a few atomic explosions in random American cities could easily bring us to our knees and into submission to sharia. We have an open southern border, we have Iran with the atomic bomb only inches from its fingertips, we have Iran's Association with terrorists but we, and certainly this administration, cannot come to the conclusion that Iran, rather than Isis, is the more dangerous threat. ________________

In case you missed the major cogent reasons why the United States has a profound security interest in Syria it is because Syria is connected to Iraq which is is connected to Iran which is getting the bomb and all are connected to Russia which is waging war in theater and also has the bomb.

We are witnessing the reversal of the balance of power in the oil-producing region of the world. Perhaps you would regard that as a major interest.

It is vital that the United States do what it can short of war to interdict this new axis, this new caliphate, before we find bombs exploding in the homeland or before the flow of oil to Europe and Asia is cut off.

As I said in another post, those reaction snap polls tend to reflect voter preference rather than candidate performance.

Carly is likely on her way out because she has not been able to get money. But as for her performance, she is the most concise and uncanned of all those on the stage. One of the best performances tonight was the governor of new Jersey. But he too is short of sponsors. He probably wass out once Trump jumped in. He is a better debater than Trump but Trump, the billionaire, has a better feel for the mood of the base than he does. Too bad that Trump didn’t jump in in 2012.

Cruz is keeping the important backers happy, and that is presently what counts.

When he gets to the general, he’ll have all the horsepower he needs to win. The conservative money is all lined up on his side.

Trump need to turn it up a notch. Cruz really impressed me when he went after Kasich. One does not tangle verbally with Cruz! Rubio is almost as good. Don’t be fooled by that baby face. He’s also a killer.

Putin has got for Russia what it has been seeking since 1875. Only someone totally ignorant of history could ignore his achievement,
