What if you donât start taking it even when youâre 70?....I kid you NOT. They will call you, mail you and send you a check anyways. I knew a multi-millionaire who thought he was doing a patriotic act by not applying but he was harassed by the gov. to apply (this was before mandatory bank deposit)and needed his checking account. This went on for almost a year. He finally got a threatening letter and accepted. He died the week of his first check (with back pay).
If you go at 62, you get Cola until you hit your regular retirement age. you will then a raise. For instance, you retire at 62 and then at 66 and 1/2 you get a $100 bucks or so more. This happened to my GF this year. I do not know the exact amount she was raised, (taxes, Medicare, etc.).
So you’re telling me that they’ve essentially made it mandatory?
This is irresponsible and shameful. Some people don’t need it and don’t want it, and yet the government insists that they MUST take it?
Force is their favorite thing.

Nope !
You get no automatic raise when you reach full retirement age if you haven’t worked .
None.
.
Can’t do it. I’ll starve. Although I have my own money, it won’t last without SS. so much as I hate it, I’m going to have to take it.
And until the American people vote the bastards out, it will continue.
