Nutritional Health Series, Part 20

How Bad Science and Big Business Created the Obesity Epidemic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vr-c8GeT34

This video is one in a series of videos and websites which are being posted on FreeRepublic in the coming days in regard to nutritional health. In the beginning these videos were being posted as a rebuttal to an article and comments in another posted article on FreeRepublic remarking on obesity. Due to the strong interest in obesity and nutritional health as it relates to Type II Diabetes, the videos relating to Type II diabetes and how to reverse the progression of the disease are being moved forward among the other video topics in this series. Expect to see a mixture of videos regarding the role of carbohydrates in the diet and their relationship to nutritional health topics ranging from metabolic syndrome and Diabetes to dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Altzheimer's Disease, and more. The effects of standard government sponsored diets, health association diets, and alternative diets upon everyday nutrition, sports nutrition, and diabetic nutrition will be mixed in with videos focused on the use of various low carbohydrate and high fat (LCHF) diets, such as the ketogenic diets as a treatment for Type II Diabetes.

Anyone who is interested in following this series of posts about nutritional health is invited to request a ping.

What I know about ‘diabetes.’

Cats are being diagnosed as diabetic at epidemic rates. Most prescribed insulin is Lantus at nearly $400 a vial.

Best solution so far...try an all protein diet. Amazingly cats put on an all protein canned food diet no longer need insulin for the rest of their lives.

It is the carbohydrates ....stu**d.

In DR Hallbergs introductory videos she goes over the above information and shows a chart pointing out that in 1977 weight gain exploded. What happened that year? Government changed the diet pyramid — switching meat with grains

Low carb, high fat, meat-oriented diets are a dangerous fad that run counter to mainstream research, eg NIH, Mao, Cleveland Clinic, MD Anderson, Johns Hopkins. This research supports a diet that is low in red meat, saturated fat, sodium and sugars (all the “-oses”). http://www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2015/10/26/red-and-processed-meats-tied-to-cancer-says-who/

I watched about 12 minutes, where this guy only reinforced our idea about the Atkins diet. Something we go on quite often to shed excess pounds. And my doc says my blood panel improves when I’m on it.

The title should have been "How Bad Science and Big Government Created the Obesity Epidemic". As soon as the government declared fat bad, and carbs good, the people demanded low fat foods because they believed what the government told them, and they wanted to be healthy. Business just responds to demand. If my business used to be pork rinds, I'm going to switch and make low fat wheat biscuits (with extra sugar to make sure you don't notice the missing fat) if that's what people want.
