I was just interested in the irresponsible position of Carson advocating shooting down Russian planes over Syria, where they have been given permission to fly.
I don’t give two hoots about the author’s comments. Carson’s are scary.
Well...You have to take that into the proper context where a no-fly zone is the topic.
Initially the Russians told the US and allies to get out or risk being shot down...They replied in kind, by issuing orders to pilots that their guns were free in case of a danger caused by Russian aircraft.
After that the Russians complained and they made some sort of a deal.
I think Carson was saying that the US should man-up, impose a restricted airspace corridor for these refugees in Syria, rather than have them running all over the damn place. If this were done without Russian agreement, the only possible choice would be the weapons free option for any incursion into the corridor.
This sort of zone has been proposed many times, and I only saw one no fly zone that was implemented in the last 20-30 years and that was in Iraq against Hussein..
These thing generally cause more problems then they are worth, but if one were to create a protected area for the refugees, the Russians would have to agree with it, or you might as well declare war on them, which frankly I would not object to.
