I doubt that it’s DISQUS; Brietbart has changed greatly since Andrew dies and they have been censoring posts ( mods there, NOT DISQUS )for about 2 years.

Yeah, it's up to the website mods if they have those. I have posted on sites that don't have mod approval for Disqus and my comments go up right away.

We had a local station, KAKE News in Wichita, that had Disqus, where you saw conservatives complain all the time that their comments were not being posted.

The liberals ran roughshod in their comment sections, while conservatives were being locked out of discussions. I told the news director their liberals on their comment sections was terribly disproportionate because conservatives way out number liberals in Kansas. All I got was crickets from him and recently they took down all the comments after the Syrian refugee debate where the libtards were getting hammered on the issue. They are a terribly liberal station and deserve the name, KAKA News

My bet is Disqus has neither the money nor the motivation to censor posts. On the other hand, giving their clients that ability would qualify as a feature. I would guess, in many cases, not having the ability to moderate would be a deal breaker.
