I was in the same position earlier this year. Bored and looking for something on Netflix to watch, I gave the first episode of TWD a look and was instantly hooked. I powered through all four seasons in a few weeks while the remainder of Season 5 was airing. I took great pains to avoid it. I finally got caught up after Season 5 ended and I found some website out of Thailand that was streaming it for free as I couldn't wait for Netflix to pick it up.
When you're done with Season 5 on Netflix, you should be able to catch the first half of Season 6 On Demand, if you have it.
I think it was about when Season 3 was starting. I had ZERO interest in a TV series about zombies.
But, I kept reading reviews and comments. Finally, when there wasn’t much on regular TV, I decided to load up TWD Episode 1 on Netflix to see what all of the hoopla was about. I was completely hooked about half-way through it.
LOL
Ironically, it was Netflix that also got me hooked on Downton Abbey. I had not heard of it until I read some reviews and comments. I caught up to the broadcasts via Netflix.
I think the ‘binge factor’ and no commercials help significantly and enhance the viewing experience. I now have subscriptions to Netflix and Amazon Prime. Watching regular TV with all the commercial breaks can be painful.
