I thought Denver flew a kit. He died due to pilot error, or carelessness, depending on how you wish to characterize it. There was no mechanical failure involved. RIP.

I think JD flew a Long EZ. It had some kind of fuel problem if I remember correctly.

He died in a kit because his reserve fuel valve handle had fallen off and he replaced it with a pair of vice grips.
They fell off when he tried to turn on reserve and he couldn’t retrieve them.
RIP indeed.

He took off nearly empty of fuel, thought 1 of the two was full IIRC...
