There's a point to living in the now. There is no anxiety for a future if you live NOW. I do this myself. My morality is Christian-based, and if I live morally, my NOW SELF feels better about myself.

I also have far less by way of fear by living in the now.

The past is gone and can't be changed. The future is unknown to us. The only thing we have control over is the present, so the present is where we should spend our effort. Prudence dictates planning for the future, but even that is done in the present.

He is not displeased with our plans for tomorrow or our utilizing the mistakes of yesterday to our advantage. However, we deprive ourselves of grace and God of glory when we live in the fear of tomorrow. That blessed awareness of His Presence and the realization of the power of His grace, will let us live for today, without fear of the future or attachment to the past.

People confuse 'living for the moment' with 'living in the moment.'
Two entirely different points of view.
