I think your liberal friends are no deeper than a Wikipedia page. Fascism gets put on the right for some reason I cannot fathom. Just like Red all of a sudden became the conservative color.

In my mind, the right stands for liberty, self-reliance, personal accountability, charity and good will, limited government, capitalism, the rule of law, morality and a belief in God.

As noted above, the right/left dichotomy is only a tool and has analytical limits. Maybe a checklist is a better approach.

I don’t think you have to go any further than the concept of nationalism. Right wing = nationalism.

Libs believe nationalism, loving your country and believing in it’s exceptionalism (as they feel the Nazi’s did) as evil and vile.
