I’ve actually noticed this and made comment about this. I wonder if this is an outcome of smaller and smaller families. When I was kid (in a very large family), nudity wasn’t that big a deal and kids bathed together until they were too big to fit into the tub together. In two kid families and with sometimes years between then, there is less of that and kids don’t grow up the same.
Modesty is a major Christian concept and virtue includes modesty. Communes (collective/socialistic) cultures were the “nude” ones-—where everyone is reduced to animal-—only humans wear clothes and think dignity is acquired by having the concept of privacy-—esp. about intimate matters which can’t be moral if a “group” thing. Humans are designed to unite one man with one woman.....and to not commit and take responsibility for the dignity of that person and the “Love” that is needed to be EXCLUSIVE for happiness and security. People need love and to be completed by the opposite sex to fulfill their design. To be used and tossed is devastating for the human psyche. All humans need to feel special and intimate with one other for life.
Individualism (Christianity) is what created Western Civ and the Age of Reason/Modern Science and dignity and worth of the individual included marriage of one man to one women—which took morality and modesty to respect the nature of male and female which is DIFFERENT and unique.
Not teaching the virtue of modesty is destroying the civility and the intimate/private “nature” of human beings. Privacy is essential to dignity of humans unlike other animals.
Dogs have sex in public—moral people know that intimacy requires privacy-—it is why all immoral, evil vile cultures always had major orgies which always includes children (like Afghanistan today and Greeks/Samurai of yesterday). All evil people use others as if they are dogs-—to be used and tossed. There can be no Freedom and no civil society when the masses are evil and cultures are socialistic—no privacy. Mystery and curiosity is what drives civilization and improves it and makes it so fun.
Western Civ (Christian cultures) far exceeded all other cultures to the EXTREME because of Romance/Chivalry/Modesty and that curiosity and excitement and “HOPE” (esp. in childhood and why innocence is so important in children). Modesty is essential for Romance and the beauty and excitement in human life. No surprises and you have a boring, dull life,
I would say it probably has more to do with today’s school gym practices then anything. in the 60’s and 70’s we were required to shower after every class and the penalty was a swat.
My 17yr old just looks at me kind of funny when I ask him if he showered after gym today or after his football practice/game...
Heck their not even required to have a gym uniform (shorts and t-shirt), only the t-shirt.
