Whatâs wrong with Edge? Edge is based on IE11 but with all of the old cruft removed. No more ActiveX controls, no more code to support pages written with HTML optimized for IE5.5, etc. Microsoft was trying to drop the dead weight with Edge. Basically, they started working on Edge based on the IE11 code base, but first stripped out everything that had to do with backwards compatibility and interfered with a robust HTML5 implementation.
With all of that old stuff removed there are still a few holes in the implementation. A lot of older web sites use technology (that needs to go away) that MS stripped out support for.
A lot of enterprise customers have lots of legacy stuff that depends on the old IE stuff, so IE 11 will be with us for a good long time.

For one thing, you can't import bookmarks using an HTML file. You have to import them from another browser, but only a browser supported by Edge, which does not include Firefox. So you have to install either Chrome or IE on your machine, import the bookmarks into that browser, then import said bookmarks into Firefox or Pale Moon from one of these "recognized" browsers.
I just got finished with this procedure on two new computers, so I'm well familiar with this defect. If I were to continue working with Edge (which I won't) then no doubt other defects would become manifest.

The compatibility with some websites leaves much to be desired and it sometimes freezes. Its not bad overall just clearly needs a bit of work. The old ie is there for compatibility and if that doesn’t work I also use chrome.
