Christmas is a big consumer holiday in Japan.
The funniest thing is KFC convinced the Japanese that you have to eat KFC chicken on Christmas Day, because that is what Americans eat for Christmas (???). So KFC makes a fortune in Japan at Christmas because everyone has to eat (KFC) “Christmas Chicken.” Very bizarre.
In Korea they love to eat fried chicken with beer (year round), which they call “Chi-Mek” and is actually pretty tasty. They have Chi-Mek fast food restaurants, chains and individual, everywhere I thought if you could figure out how to get liquor licenses for KFC in America, you could revive their fortune. (Don’t think it would work for Chick fil A, though.)
