Pigeons Could Help Detect Breast Cancer
Motherboard ^ | November 18, 2015 | Joe Goodman

[snip]

In a series of experiments, a team comprising researchers from UC Davis, the University of Iowa, and Emory University placed pigeons in front of images of benign and malignant breast cancer cells and rewarded them with food when they pressed a button correctly identifying each of them. Over time, the pigeons became so adept at recognising the cells’ properties that when the researchers changed the images to a never-before-seen set, they found the pigeons were able to generalize the patterns from one set to the other and distinguish benign cells from malignant cells.

Bypass obamacare....get a second opinion in the toen park.

**Our results suggest that pigeons can be used as suitable surrogates for human observers.**

The pigeons are at least as good as some of the import Doctors I’ve met.

Only if they do it without the dang mammogram machines. If men tested for testicular cancer the same way, no one would ever get tested. Women are idiots so they still go for it. I’d rather just take my top off and let the pigeon look.

Newest studies show that mammograms overall reduce women’s lifespans. They save and thus extend the lives of the small percent of women with certain breast cancers at the exact right stage for great surgery results and mild post surgical treatments. They shorten the lives of MANY MORE, who get a cancer dx even if the cancer would have been harmless the rest of their life but the woman gets treatment anyway. They especially shorten lives of people with cancer that needs surgery, but then after surgery, the woman and her family are guilted into immune system destroying barbaric chemical and radiation treatments. These women die earlier of non cancer related illnesses and conditions brought on by the destruction of their immune systems.

Whenever I am approached by the increasingly militant pinkies I tell them I will if you will. Then I whip out my purple ribbon for prostate cancer(funded at about 100$ to 1$) and they inevitably smile and shrink away.

Nothing against beating breast cancer but I think men’s macho image prevents effective solicitation for this man killer.

The breast cancer industry is a huge killing scam.

If people did their own research, and used the parts of the industry they actually feel would be good choices, fine. BUT THEY CAN’T unless they have superhuman resolve.

Why? Because it, like all scams, uses emotion to suck dollars right out of you / your insurance co / your state.

First, mammograms catch every tiny little bit of suspicion. By far, most won’t even hurt you. Some will. Overdx is the first part of the scam. The next is patient privacy: the tech or secretary will call up and make an apt for you —— and your loved one —— to come in and meet with the doctor to discuss your results. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE KIND AND SYMPATHETIC to the patient. But it works like a sideshow feel good drink barker.

You have naturally been crying all weekend with your loved one and your friends. Clearly they saw the C word on your test, and clearly your life is over. After a weekend of no sleep, just tears, you and your extremely worried husband head into the doc’s paneled office. The door is shut. He or she, extra gently, tells you your results, oh so sympathetically. Then the doc tells about all his options. Worse than options on a new car, his options are described as saving your life, letting your children still have a parent. They will NEVER recommend a wait and see, when often that is the correct approach, the hippocratic approach. “First, do no harm.”

He will give you some time to think about your options, and, best for his next car, have you discuss them with your mate. I DONT CARE IF THST MAN NEXT TO YOU IS SCREWING HIS SECRETARY EVERY DAY AT THE OFFICE, he knows he would be a heel to say ANYTHING but “Doc, do everything you can to save my honey.” And there you go.

You will never be told about the life shortening, health ruining side effects of some of the barbaric treatments in their Arsenal today. If surgery is done, and all ways of testing show no cancer anywhere, they will STILL recommend MONTHS of chemo and radiation and destroy any kind of life you once knew. Some parts of your life will never return, not because of the cancer always; often it is the treatment that will hurt you forever.

It is a scam if you sit there and let them talk you into anything they want. Medicine is a service and everyone should do their own education or have a family member do it. Definitely consider alternate treatments and no treatment — at least look into it. Also, like in Iraq, have an exit strategy or they will always suck you in for more.

[I have great respect for doctors. But certain parts of medicine are not honest or not actually focused on health.]

Yep...I get Thermography. ..my friend who runs a mammogram center thinks I’m looney and risking my life esp at my age...I tell her I do not tell others to not get mamms...I don’t tell them to get them either...but I do discuss thermography and diet for prevention..which I believe is a big factor
