Then I would demand my day in court. IIRC, this fine was imposed by one of the state’s alphabet agencies and the final arbiter was the person who was in charge of enforcing the rules and he was far from being fair or independent.

But according to Oregon law there is an administrative court judge that rules on these kind of things. He ruled, fined them, and their fine was upheld by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. I don't where else they can take the matter of the fine. I suppose they can appeal to federal court on First Amendment grounds but as Kim Davis found out the federal courts haven't been open to taking the matter up.

Huh? What the hell is that supposed to mean? I merely stated what is obviously going on in light of the apparent “injustice”.

People waive their rights on a daily basis, almost entirely because the system has been gamed to be so complicated that it’s just easier to go along. Look at traveling versus driving, you need a license to “drive” because that is a defined commercial activity.

Let’s step outside of this particular subject. Take firearms, you know what the best avenue will eventually be to take them? Not by kicking in your door, but by denying one their state bennies. The day the state says that you can’t collect Social Security if you own non government sanctioned firearms is what people should worry about. Congress isn’t even required by law to pay SS, sure, there would be a crapstorm over it, but there is NO guarantee of it.

Aside from the rampant corruption and cronyism in government, people have to realize that we’ve let an insane legal system grow up like kudzu that ensnares pretty much everyone to some extent, but it is almost entirely “voluntary” because people sign on the dotted line without understanding the consequences.

I think you might have them confused with the pizza place in Ohio. They did get quite a lot.

And when they got sued again, likely for a much larger amount, who would actually have the last laugh?

No Mistake. They really brought in that much. I'd like to hear why they caved.

I hope they got crowd-funding for this outrage.

Yes, I believe they did. Over $500k from what I heard. But a lot of that will go to attorney's fees.
