She was a woman — or at least the pictures of herself that she posted (in silhouette) appeared that way. I remember one in particular, posted from Iraq, showing her with some kind of heavy duty machine gun at target practice. She lived in the green zone. She is also Catholic and used to run a beautiful Catholic blog. I “knew” her from a different website that has since gone defunct.

Please say a Prayer for my sister Allegra who has to head back into Baghdad tomorrow! We're freaking out because the death toll from today's "activities" keeps rising! Hopefully they won't bring her back until it's safer...
