One of her last posts in 2011:
“....I’m about to take a break myself - I’m at that burnout phase just as you were - tired of all of the acrimony ‘round here. Life (and my time in the States) is too short.
I believe I’ll begin 2012 with a nice break from it all.
Happy New Year!”
This describes about 80% of Freepers who have moved on elsewhere. Perhaps this site might have changed since the halcyon days, Only one day remaining, until the latest fund drive. Happy New Year to all, especially to JR.
Nothing changes.
Allegra was a good poster. I was sorry to see him/her leave. That was a contentious time because of the elections - and she’d be really upset now by all the anger and attacks here. Also, I don’t think she was happy with the BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome, for you younger posters) that took over this site.
Allegra was in Iraq in some capacity, probably employed by a contractor working with the military. I think the poster was a woman (but the name could have been chosen based on the allergy med - who knows?) and whatever she did seemed to require a lot of contact with the locals and knowledge of dangerous situations, so her posts were always interesting. Even when she came back to the States (Texas, I believe), her observations were good and worth reading.
So wherever you are, Allegra, a Happy New Year to you!
