I ran into a guy at a gun show in the early 90s who practically gave them away. He let me have 12 cases of 12 for only $32. I remember thinking he must have gotten them for free after a recent hurricane.

Anyway we went out to his pickup and I got the 12 cases. He must have had another 50.

They turned out to be pretty good tho there were a few I didn’t care for. I remember there was a cheese spread in maybe a quarter of the meals which I thought was great with the crackers.

Now I can see how they would not be good for everyday but eating maybe one a week, I liked them.

I did end up with a bunch of book matches and unused heaters.

The “Ham Slice” was decent and needed no heating. Some of them were pretty nasty cold. And most included the “John Wayne Bar” - a piece of chocolate which resulted in your dumping a turd so big that John Wayne would be proud to claim it!

We held a competition once to see who could create one coiled up like a rattlesnake. I finished third...couldn’t get the twist quite right.

Ever try making a “Ranger cookie?”

Take the sugar and the cream packages, tear off the top and pur one into the other. Use your spoon handle to mix the sugar and cream. Roll the open top down to seal and then light a match and bring the mixture to the flame and slowly rotate. Will take a few matches to get the mixture to melt. Do not burn. Once melted, squish softly a few times and them put down to cool. When it cools it hardens. Peal off the paper wrapper and there you have it. . .a nice sugar cookie. Tasty.
