Brokeback Smokey ? Naah.
Simple answer to all the questions: Hollywood.
I read the book. There are a few points, like the temperatures and injuries you mention, that do strain credulity. Perhaps trying to cram it into 2 hours broke some otherwise believable points or introduced unnecessary confusion. I’m looking forward to the movie, though now with gritted teeth given your review.
In the future, please note that your movie reviews belong in chat.
Thanks
awesome movie. beyond must see IMHO.
leonardo and hardy are oscar bait for sure
You’re better than Siskel & Ebert ever were. lol.
I get the impression, that if one has read the book first, it would be more enjoyable. I’m also a playwright, and I’m into dialogue story lines and plot. I can’t understand why they didn’t expand on the meeting of Glass and Potaqwa?
I think the movie is a visual feat. Gorgeously photographs, but it spends a lot of time on things that I think could have been sacrificed for content.
Also, I had a hard time trying to under the Fitzgeral character, played by English actor, Tom Hardy.
I do recommend the movie, but I don’t think that people will be flocking to this. It certainly is not a date flick.
'hyperthermia' with ice-cold water?
Haahaha, yes I meant hypothermia. Can the Administrator please make that correction?
Disliked it. Cinematography superb. Can’t complain about the acting. It’s simply a shallow storyline. Pales in comparison to movies like Jeremia Johnson, Outlaw Josey Wales and True Grit .. either version.
I hear DiCaprio is thinking academy award for this. Doubtful.
What the hell I stopped reading.Your telling the whole story.Sit in the lovers aisle and change the title to spoilers.
haha..nah...you're good. I was just checking to make sure I hadn't missed some huge leap in entropy or cold fusion or something. :)
There is really no spoiler here as I don’t give you the ending which in itself it’s weird, in fact, I think these are things I might be paying attention to, if I see it again, which I kinda want to do.
It’s your typical revenge movie. There’s nothing really surprising, and every single thing is predictable.
I think you and I are the only ones. I mean, you’re sucked into all this pre-movie hype, and in the end, there’s nothing more than a revenge movie. The movies you mention ALL have character substance and relationships.
And of course, they throw in the, MAKE US FEEL SORRY FOR WHAT WE DID TO THE INDIANS SUBTEXT THROUGH OUT, that Hollywood loves to do.
I saw The Bid Short the other night, and that was good. It was great actually.
I asked the admin to please make the change for me. I hope they do.
Yuck. Do you foist this upon readers of FR often? Lamenting the seating arrangements in movie theaters...who cares. If you are trying to be poetic and literary like, it did not work. You must have nothing to do. I stopped reading somewhere between boredom and complete coma effect.
:) Just teasing.Have your glass of wine and settle down.
Rehash of “man in the wilderness” ... Richard Harris starred in long ago. Yes better visually etc... Same plot on Zachary Bass getting mauled, left behind etc

Both good flicks.
