The preper sites have suggested the use of black powder in a REAL SHTF emergency scenario, (Mad Max world) but in a modern twist barreled weapon, not good! FOWLING is horrible from black powder and with more aggressive rifling it gets worse!
I owned a Hawkin Renegade 'smoke stick' in .50, great little deer rifle but a real pain to load and clean. A Peace Maker would be a good compromise as the large diameter allows for less aggressive rifling while still maintaining good accuracy with a relatively slow moving but heavy bullet that hits hard.
