I loved him in that role. He absolutely made the movie.

I forgot about Sense and Sensibility. I went through a phase of being nuts for that movie, watching it over and over. He was excellent in it.

oh no - Florence King died? I hadn’t heard that. Yep - 3 favorites for me too. Rickman was great in Bottle Shock.

Sense and Sensibility — yet to see that myself. Maybe one day.

Great as Nottingham. What a fun villain!

And of course, Snape is larger than life.

I was shocked when I saw the news. I am a voice person & I found his swoon inducing. He was so wonderful in Sense & Sensibility. He & Emma Thompson were in many things together. A sad loss.

He was great in “Bottle Shock”...his looking down his nose attitude at the fledgling California wine industry while being forced to drive a rental yellow AMC Gremlin - LOL.

RIP Alan Rickman

Ping to you because of your posts on this thread (see below for link) about Snape and Rickman. I remembered someone on a thread was a Rickman fan, but just couldn’t recall the FR name. Did a Google search and found it.

Thought I recognized that name when I saw this.

It’s sad ... perhaps to us Xers who don’t remember what/how our parents felt when it was Bogey and Bacall.

Nobody’s getting younger in this world, even us. Soon, we’ll be reading about Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder, Steve Martin, Bernadette Peters, and many others who it will seem like, “weren’t they just young?”

As we forget that yes, they were just young in that movie we watched the other night ... that was filmed in 1973.

And the world still turns.

I second The Barchester Chronicles. He and the whole cast were great. Alan was also the main bad guy in the “Sweeney Todd” movie.

RIP.

Wasn't he another anti-Israel lefty?

I remember him most as the "alien" in Galaxy Quest.

This movie never seems to be mentioned in all the news stories I read; one of the better modern westerns IMHO.

*sigh*

Yes, but I’m not seeing as many greats stepping up to replace what we’re losing now.
