This was the model pioneered by Bill Clinton in Arkansas in the 1980s: high-achieving, yuppie lawyer on the make makes his mark in politics and public service while highly credentialed spouse makes bank in the banking sector. The female bread-winner allows the husband to spend his prime working years in office, and running for ever-higher office. They can be public servants while living like one percenters.

Heidi Cruz met her husband when they both worked on the Bush campaign. A graduate of Claremont-McKenna College, she has an MBA from Harvard Business School. When the Cruz's moved back to Texas, she joined Goldman, Sachs as a private wealth manager in 2005. (That's what used to be known in the old days as a stockbroker.)
By Wall Street standards, her earnings at Goldman were merely good. On the Cruz's joint tax return from 2010, it appears her salary was around $360,000. Cruz hasn't released his 2013 or 2014 tax returns.

Yes but, when Trumps wife hits the campaign trail, she will be his secret weapon. Highly intelligent, educated, talented, accomplished as well as being a classy, good looking woman. She will neuter all of the “sexist” malarkey.
Um, I very confidently will say there are likely many differences. I will wager that the marriage of Ted Cruz and Heidi Cruz as well as the marriage of Chris Christie likely are not marriages of convenience. I would imagine their wives are not closet lesbians. As far as I know there probably is not a bunch of dead bodies around either one of them. Just because the author of the piece wants to make it sound like that Ted Cruz and Chris Christie are just like Bill Clinton and his wife doesn’t mean the rest of us have to buy in to that garbage.

Melania is a very beautiful woman, smart, has her own company, is a great mother and is very close to her step children, but she says herself, she isn’t their ‘mother’ but more a ‘friend’....
She can bring so much class to our Country, especially after what we have had the past 8 years, she doesn’t need to be like a ‘Heidi’ or a ‘Mrs. Christie’, because she is just simply ‘Melania’ and that in itself is heads and shoulders above any of the other candidates wives....
