The alleged “slam” is no slam:
âI think it [would] be a blow to Sarah Palin, because Sarah Palin has been a champion for the conservative cause, and if she was going to endorse Donald Trump, sadly, she would be endorsing someone whoâs held progressive views all their life on the sanctity of life, on marriage, on partial-birth abortion,â Cruz campaign spokesman Rick Tyler said on CNNâs âNew Day.â
We all know there was no slam, and that Bristol and Sarah should, and probably do, know better. So I suspect this deliberate over-reaction may be a trial balloon. Sarah likely suspects that Trump will win the nomination and she’ll eventually support him in the general, of course. But if she endorses him now, she might be able to take credit for delivering Iowa to him. Hopefully, from the comments here, she’ll see from floating this balloon that it’s a bad idea. Wait for the general, Sarah. You don’t need Trump and Iowa at this point to be relevant - being principled matters more.
