Philip Rivers on the idea of the Raiders replacing the Chargers in San Diego: 'Sickening'

The Chargers and Raiders have been divisional rivals since the start of the AFL back in 1960. The Chargers have been located in San Diego almost as long, moving south from Los Angeles in 1961.
Philip Rivers has played a big part in that history, having spent all 12 of his NFL seasons as quarterback for the Chargers in San Diego.
With the Rams moving to Los Angeles and the Chargers being the first team invited to join them, there's always the possibility of the Raiders moving from Oakland to San Diego.
And that, quite frankly, makes Rivers sick to his stomach.

So LA is going from zero teams to two teams in one year?
Seriously? They haven’t been able to keep a team before, now they will support two?

As a lifelong Charger fan I agree with him. The event that was Ryan Leaf was horrible enough, now slapped in the face with this? Spanos has wanted out of the city for many years. Go be with the Oakland Raider fans. They always have been so nice when they are in San Diego haven't they? Hope I don't need a tag.

I love San Diego, but if SD can't come up with the money to replace Jack Murphy stadium (or Qualcomm stadium or w/e they're calling it now) for the Chargers, how will they come up with money for a new Raiders stadium?

If there's one thing that Jesse Ventura got right it was this (when he was talking about taxpayers paying for a new Vikings stadium)
"If they got millions to pay their players, then they can pay for their own stadium."

I remember the San Diego Chicken. It has been so long I forget which radio station he worked for at the beginning. KGB or KPRI? I might even have that wrong. Yeah I know I could Bing it.

Spanos has wanted out of the city for many years. Maybe he should work out a franchise swap like the Browns and Colts did. Spanos takes over the Raiders and moves them to LA and the Raiders ownership takes over the Chargers and keeps them in SD.

I think it showed up at a Russian Olympia hockey team vs what ever San Diego had back then and ruffled a few feather.

When Stabler fumbled intentionally and then rolled the ball in the end zone so that the Raiders recovered it for a late TD to beat the Chargers.

I was at a Charger/Oakland day way back around the time i was in high school. Oakland fumbled the ball right in front of us. The ref called it not a fumble...Oakland won the game.

I’ll support the Chargers as long as Rivers is the QB. I have an old cork board from when I was a teen that has Chargers stickers all over it. There’s one sticker that says “I STILL HATE THE RAIDERS” that’s about thirty years old. Still fits.

I actually watched the Cowboys vs. the Chargers in Qualcomm back in the 80s when Danny White and, I think, Dan Fouts were the QBs.Wow.

Dan Fouts is kinda like Philip Rivers. Above average QBs who just couldn’t win the big games.
