When University police came knocking, he flung the laptop out his dorm room window. It was recovered. There were several attempted logins to the University computer system with the id C.Newton.

Anyone else other than their star QB would still be in Alabama prison making license plates.

For stealing a laptop? Some states are making it a misdemeanor for stealing a gun. They'll just get probation.

Newton was at Florida when he stole a fellow student's laptop.

Anyone else other than their star QB would still be in Alabama prison making license plates.

Newton wasn't a star then, he was Tim Tebow's backup. And it's hard to believe that the theft of a laptop would result in any 18 year old being sentenced to over 7 years in prison.
