Come on! Be Careful! They all hate Ted Cruz now, but when he is President this will all change! Remember Obama didn’t really get along with the other Senators, but look at how they worked with him to get everything he wanted done. If Mitch McConnell can work with Obama, he can work with Ted Cruz, to continue the Obama legacy....

But wait! Ted says he wants to change all that? Close the borders? Build a wall? Eliminate the IRS, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development? That sounds easy for starters.

I am sure Ted has lots of allies in the House and Senate working on legislation to put this all into action from day one.

...he won't be able to get anything done.

I can't take this anymore...trump utters the typical demorat refrain..."Let's get things Done".

Hillary utters the typical demorat refrain, " I can get things done"!

Be Careful says....Cruz can't get things done!

1st, I want to know what "things are", because if the definition has changed, I missed it. The only time we are safe in this country is when the government is shut down.

Things?

Done?

It's bizzaro world at FR.

I don't know his record in the Senate is pretty good. He led the charge to stop the Gang of 8 Amnesty Bill. He led the charge against Obama Care. His and Mike Lee's filibuster that brought on the government shut down came the closest to stopping it of anyone in the Senate. If the rest of the party had backed him up that might have been the end of Obama Care. I will never forget watching him as he took a stand for the Freedom of this country and got real people involved by having them send in Tweets live and he would read them as staffers brought them in. He's tenacious and once in a leadership position could easily get the people in place to make progress bringing back our Liberties.

I'd rather have someone who gets nothing done, than gives into what the Democrats want just to claim they are getting things done. We saw that kind of nonesene under W when the democrats one and had a mandate. Cruz stands by his principles.

Mike Lee is a good guy. It would be nice.

The President wields great influence in the party beyond the strict limits on his the powers of his office...

Real Clear Politics graphs show the same thing. They are just harder to link.

I agree, Cruz has been fighting the fight and learning the ropes. Trump will either be overwhelmed and lose interest as soon as he finds out it takes time to push legislation, or follow in the steps of GW and Obama, and declare law into existence, and give the middle finger to the Constitution.

Whether we want to believe it or not, this started under GW Bush with the Patriot act, campaign finance reform, and Chief Justice John Roberts.

I’ll take a “little bit” establishment any day to ALL ESTABLISHMENT which is what we have now, including Cruz!

By all accounts Cruz is hated by members of Congress. I can foresee if he is elected Congress will simply ignore him and fail to pass his initiatives. We will hear much about how Democrats and Republicans are “reaching across the aisle.”

I agree. Sums it up very nicely, very succinctly and doesn t go into name calling or making stuff up.

My opinion:

Cruz will be an ineffectual conservative President because he misplayed his hand in the Senate since being elected in 2012.

We all here enjoyed Cruz s thumb in the eye to his fellow Senators but it s clear to me he just can t transition to likeable.

I believe he is damaging his brand. He should find a graceful means of exiting and reevaluate his career path.

And remember, Cruz may be the most conservative that some think can be elected, but Trump is the most conservative that some others think can be elected.

I saw no charge against Obamacare. Nothing at all. The amnesty bill died in the House, not the Senate. The shutdown had no impact.

In order to have success, you have to go out and get people on board with you. Otherwise it all ends in nothing.

Sometimes doing nothing is the correct course of action. Do you favor:

1) Going $20 trillion in debt, or not going $20 trillion in debt?
2) Funding Planned Parenthood, or not funding Planned Parenthood?
3) Making nuclear deals with Iran, or not making nuclear deals with Iran?
4) Exchanging prisoners for American hostages, or not exchanging prisoners for American hostages?
5) etc etc etc

A government that has clearly overstepped it’s proscribed boundaries and is involved in every facet of life... why would I favor a candidate who can “get more done” that should not be getting done to begin with?

McConnell only sends fake bills to Obama as a ‘show token’, knowing that they will be vetoed...thus giving the appearance of appeasing the masses.

He will NEVER send anything that we want to a President Cruz

Orrin and Lindsey and John would suddenly find they actually CAN vote against a cabinet or judicial nomination
