Vanity: I am so sick of the lack of logic used on FR these days.

I am so sick of the lack of logic used on Free Republic when some argue either for or against Trump or Ted Cruz whom I do not support, or at least a declaratory opinion/argument by a creeper who AT LEAST explains his or her line of reasoning/thinking.

All of the blustern(either made up in someone's mind) or taken directly from either of the campaigns (which are not based ON ANY evidence other than the candidate or a surrogate's opinions are worth NOTHING).

As conservatives, libertarians, tea partiers, Christians, constitutionalists, nationalists/Proud Americans, Republicans, yes even some moderates, shouldn't we at least try to elevate the conversation when we debate? Let's try out reason, logic, respect and facts, huh?

While we're at it can we cut out the snark, name calling and personal attacks that have become the norm around here just because someone supports a candidate you don't like! I'll admit that I am not guilt free on this charge, and to anyone I have personally offended occasionally either intentionally or not I ask forgiveness. I try to keep my conversations civil as both a. Christian and conservative.

Sorry about some of the weird words/grammar used in my opening post, my iPhone likes to write things I did not type.

Sounds like you got the American Main Stream Media model iPhone.

Can't they be banned or put in time-out or something?

It would be nice, it's really nasty here these days.

Like to OP said, I'm guilty of falling for the trap too, my anger gets the best of me when I should know better.

Years ago when I joined FR, seems the dialogs were more intellectual, people had a sense of honor not to just call someone who disagreed a vulgar name. I miss the halls and rooms where people can discuss issues that are revelant, and have a great implication for the future. I would wish that people on Free Republic would refrain from posting when they are intoxicated, that would be a good start.

Yesterday evening a person posted a thread that could have been a discussion.

Instead that person posted in what I call All Angry Caps, and then proceeded to start the discussion right out of the gate by name calling.

How do you elevate any discussion when the usual end game starts the discussion?

Methinks that there is too much emotion at this point and all the same garbage about the candidates has been hashed and rehashed over and over again.

I have neve seen so many threads posted with the same story. Some of the reposts are just there to start the fighting all over again.

For starters, can people ease up a bit on creating obviously redundant threads and copying and pasting the same comment into a dozen threads?

I’m enjoying this election. My Candidate has been winning since he entered.

Some of the attacks from his opponents are annoying and distorted. But hey, if they don’t listen to logic, then I post a poll. It’s sort of like watching Dracula shrink from a cross.

Nut vague extrapolations and assumptions are so persuasive though if combined with insults.

Logic is work.

That's how liberals view it. The ends always justifies the means. But we aren't accustomed to seeing it exhibited on a (formerly) Conservative forum.

Blame the GOPe and its collection of candidates (puppet - Rubio, Walker, Christie and otherwise - Bush). The GOPe and their supporters know no bounds in spewing vitriol against Tea Partiers, Evangelicals, Constitutional Conservatives, Donald Trump, and to a lesser extent Ted Cruz. All so they can maintain their power in their oh so precious Republican Party. They can go to he** as far as I am concerned.

I got so angry about all this infighting during the last 2 presidential campaigns that is almost dropped out of FR. I am sick of all the name calling I may stop coming for a while. I have an opinion on which camp is the worst but I will keep that to myself.

Sit back and don’t take yourself so seriously. If you don’t like the opinions, then disregard them and move on. Remember that you enjoy one of the most free blogs around.

What raises my eyebrows is the venom Cruz and Trump
supporters spew for each other’s candidate. Both
candidates have pluses and minuses but neither are
as bad as what the Rats are offering. Will these avid
supporters stay home on election day if their candidate
does not win the Republican nomination? Really? Every
vote is a crap shoot at best. The last time I felt
completely comfortable with my vote the presidential
candidate was named Reagan. I am sure a lot of those
who are either throwing shade on Trump or Cruz were
not old enough to have voted for Reagan.

Some of this stuff is downright crazy talk.

It is as the site owner wishes it to be. There is a constant stream of personal attacks 27/7. Only moderators can delete comments. I'm not sure we even understand what a personal attack is. I have my idea.

I made an example here.

btw, the poster I was engaging with ended our discussion cordially. It can be done.

Ping to Jim per FR protocol only.

We had pretty good fights in 2000 (Bush, Forbes, Pat, Keys) when things mostly mellowed out in 2008 and 2012. 2016 is going to be a knock down drag out fight to the death. Put your big boy pants on cause there aint going to be anything civil in 2016. Trust me, this is war and we Trumpters are going to win it all.
