The 16 inches of snow we got is in the process of melting. It started Friday morning of last week at 10 a.m. & continued until late Saturday night. Sunday was “dig out” day - I moved so much snow I ended up with a blister on one hand. Since the big tractor wouldn’t start (of course!), a relative ran his SUV around the driveway (300’) Sunday to make tracks. By yesterday, we finally had enough gravel showing in the tracks to get out. Whew.
The fields/yard still have a lot of snow, especially where it drifted. The weekend should be “warm” & maybe even close to 70 next week so that should take care of the snow ...... and leave us with mud. At least we don’t have livestock any more - the ground would really be a mess.
I keep looking at the raised beds and dreaming of April, when I can finally start working the soil & maybe get some plants out.
We had 2 snow falls all gone by the next day. Today was no school, but it’s all melted by now. Weather report is predicting another snowfall tonight-we shall see what happens.
I kept sweeping the side patio every 30 minutes, so that the new storm door wouldn’t be damaged by opening it, and keeping access to the basement kitchen where the trash cans and compost are.
My dream too. April 1, time to plant potatoes here.
