For what it's worth, John Madden once said that when he was coaching the Raiders, the opposing quarterback he feared the most was Joe Namath.

In Bear Bryant’s book he mentions that the best player he ever coached was John David Crow.
He said the best athlete was Joe Namath. That one did surprise me. I knew he was a great QB but had not heard about his athleticism.
