Whether we like it or not, Rubio came out a big winner last night. Cruz has a chance to rise higher in other states, but Rubio picked up some major momentum. I’d say he’s the biggest winner of the night. While Trump was turning on Cruz and the two got in a mud fight, Rubio was grinding out a strong performance. It will be interesting to see if Trump can pus him back down. Rubio starting rising in the fall and then fell back to the pack. He’s got some major warts that can easily be exposed. That plays less in NH, but in SC and FL, it can be used against him.
A lot of people are fond of bashing the Republican establishment, and the establishment has earned it by caving to Obama. But not all of the other candidates are enemy as Trump and some would have it. And how do those who oppose the establishment intend to win the Republican nomination if their candidate represents less than 30% of the party? I do believe that these anti-establishment folks can sit out the general election and help Hillary or Sanders win, but unless they can grow the appeal of the anti-party candidate beyond 30% in the Republican Party they’re not going to take over the party. Cruz can do this. But Trump’s a new Republican, a new conservative, a former ally of the Liberals, and his behavior and mouth are alienating most of the other Republican voters.
Iowa values are deeply set by the eastern 1/3 of the state as socialist values. Iowa was a staging place for real Americans ready to homestead places furthur west.
but not always.......you should ask why......why did Huck and Santorum fail after winning Iowa? Because their candidacies were doomed from the start by being a niche only candidacy.
That’s not the case with Cruz, Trump or Rubio. This year, the niche candidates hardly registered. Three candidates with appeal in several voter sectors dominated. Yeah, I know, “why” is troubling notion for some....but it’s damned important.

If you asked Ted “what was the best night of your life”, I’ll bet he’d pick a different night — and I’ll bet it would have something to do with the day he gave his life to CHRIST.
Reagan didn’t win Iowa. Cruz ain’t coming close in NH. Current polling shows Trump ahead by a good margin in SC.
If nothing else, it started to thin the chaff from the field a bit.
With all the "expose polls" going on, it was never 100% clear but at least the expected top dogs ended up at the top - we need to find a way to slow Rubio down because he is the darling of the RNC/GOPe/MSM now and probably what they see as their last best hope.
New Hampshire and South Carolina will further define things and polls will begin to have at least a little relevance (just pick the ones you look at carefully).
No big surprises - unless one finds it surprising that Hillary's folks managed to lie/cheat/steal from Bernie....we get a secondary popcorn eating event with those two.
Trump had a great showing and now doesn’t have the Iowa winner = Loser Jinx on him:-)
Thank you all for your comments. so at the risk of sounding politically ignorant (which I am)why do the caucus thing at all? I heard DT refer to it as a “tradition”. Sounds to like nothing more than one more poll to try to sway voters to one candidate or another AND give the media something else to beat into the ground for days on end. Just my 2 cent.
It’s a three man race now. Cruz: looking to see if he can bring the same sort of turnout organization to NH; Trump: polls showing him with a big lead were done before the caucus results - they are meaningless now. they will rapidly tighten, the question is how much? I think his competition in NH is Rubio now because of GOP-e consolidation. Cruz should stick with his strategy, Donald needs more inspiring specifics in his stump speech. I didn’t see any crossover support from Dems. I think a lot of people attended the rallies to see the “show”, didn’t translate into votes...
I was pulling for Cruz and was happy to see him win fairly comfortably, but I appreciated the fact Trump showed some magnanimity in his speech last night. He was downright gracious in his concession to Cruz. All three speeches last night were outstanding. These are the three who need to go forward from here, so the winnowing process of those candidates with numbers south of Rubio’s should begin now.
Whoever emerges as the GOP nominee will be vastly superior to whichever bloated, festering, maggot-eaten carcass happens to float to the top in the democrat swamp.
