Make restitution for sharing a story that was on the news? The Cruz campaign did not give the story to CNN, Carson did. The Cruz campaign did not get the story wrong, CNN did. The only thing the Cruz campaign did was share the story with caucus voters. If they had known the story was false at the time, then maybe restitution would be appropriate. But if anyone would owe the Carson camp restitution, it would be CNN for broadcasting false information - not the Cruz campaign for sharing information they believed to be true.
