Liberty U President Jerry Falwell Jr. insists his endorsement of Donald Trump is a personal one
Washington Post ^ | 2-1-2016 | Jenna Johnson and Jose A. DelReal

"First of all, I'm not a reverend," Falwell said. "I have to make that correction everywhere. I'm a college president. I've spent ... all of my adult life trying to make Liberty University a world-class Christian university."

Falwell says his endorsement of Trump this month was a personal one, not a professional one, as tax-exempt institutions like universities and churches are not allowed to make political endorsements. But talk of Liberty dominated the event that night, along with two more in western Iowa on Sunday, as Falwell urged evangelical caucus-goers to pick Trump.

In introducing Trump in Davenport on Saturday, Falwell recounted how Liberty struggled in its early days, forcing him and his late father to beg for donations and loans to cover their payroll. Now, Falwell said the university is the largest of its kind and prosperous.

"That's really one of the things that attracted me to Donald Trump is that I see our country at a stage now where we're approaching $20 trillion in debt, and it reminds me of where Liberty University was in the 1990s, when we were struggling to survive," Falwell said. "And it just convinced me that we need a businessman.... We need somebody besides a career politician, somebody who has been in the real world."

Ohh! The once golden slipper now doesn't shine quite so well in the light of day, does it sonny boy!

I'm wondering if poor Sarah and Sheriff Joe are questioning their support of a guy gone off the rails, but that's just me.

I, too, thought I could think of Trump as a second choice until I witnessed him make fun of Dr. Carson.

Right then, I knew wasn't the guy I wanted as my Presudent.

Thankfully, he's taking himself out and saving us all an embarrassing spectacle!

And for those of you who loathe Cruz, Dr Carson was polling at 10% and got 9.3% in the final count. That is a statistical tie!

Don't forget, Trump's poll numbers were highly exaggerated even by "the experts!"

Falwell like Palin has created more chaos in his life for meaningless endorsements. You make your bed you lie in it.

I’m glad Falwell Jr. pointed out that he is not a reverend.

No man should call themselves that, as only God is to be revered, not man.

Maybe Trump is Democrat retribution for Rush Limbaugh’s infamous Operation Chaos?

Bloomberg is a businessman, so was Romney, being a businessman is his only criteria?

He has the right to personally endorse a candidate and to campaign for a candidate. It is his right.

Falwell made the disclaimer in his speech.

(I am a CRUZ supporter)

So he destroyed his credibility as a pastor, tarnished the reputation of his school, and endangered his tax exempt status in order to fluff an unrepentant and proud adulterer.

Great job, sparky.

Jerry Falwell, Jr. is not a pastor, he is an accountant!

In other news:
Meet Chad C. Sweet, Ted Cruz’s campaign chairman, former DoD/CIA/Goldman Sachs/Homeland Security.

Sweet co-founded the Chertoff Group with former Bush and Obama administration Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff.

As a leader of the Chertoff Group, Sweet “advocated for expanding NSA metadata collection.”

Meet Ted’s ex-CIA PR guy, Dan P. Gabriel. Gabriel is involved in SIGINT aka interception - which is turned into propaganda. His twitter handle is @danpgabriel and he was one of the people pushing the angle that it was confirmed to the Cruz campaign that Carson was dropping out. After called out on the lie, the agent deleted the tweet and denies everything in typical spook fashion:

Ted Cruz PR CONFIRMED government agent! Actively working for Soros & US Army! Rabbit hole time...

He's not a theologian or an ordained reverend, but he is the effective head of the congregation that is Liberty University.

Liberty University is a UNIVERSTIY, not a Church. I think you may be stretching it by calling yourself wide awake. ;-)

I always called his Dad the brick salesman. Spent more time selling a brick with your name on it than Bible Study on radio back in the day.
