Kids don’t build cars like that anymore. I had three boys and that is how they each got their first cars, we rebuilt them. Two VW’s and a Chevy S-10 and still got one of the VW’s in the family. Kept the Bug and threw the Scirocco in the trash.

My Brother was a big VW guy. I think he still has a Storage Unit full of VW Parts from the 60’s and 70’s. I have no idea what he plans to do with all the stuff.
He has the “collector” Gene from our Father, but my Wife says it’s a “hoarder” Gene.
When I got my Chevy all put together I was really proud of myself. My older Brother was the real Mechanic though.
My Dad comes out, looks at the Car and says “as soon as you give me the $200 to pay the Insurance you can drive it”. I had to give him the money I was saving to paint the thing.
A years Insurance cost me more than the Car. LOL
