I think it’s just funny that we all see the hardships of our own lifetimes and don’t really get that we’re in a time when we are all living like the rich.

Even the well to do a hundred years ago would have thought nothing of taking a walk to town of 5 or 10 miles. Even a wealthy man riding a horse to town got a good amount of exercise. Do you know how much energy it takes to ride a horse (and stay on)?

My grandfathers were born in 1903 and 1909 and they lived an entirely different life than I do: little more than a century difference.

I hear you. Horseback riding is exercise for both the horse and the rider. We rode our bikes constantly when we were childen, and often went horseback riding as well. We also walked, roller skated, ice skated and ran. We shoveled snow, mowed the lawn, swam, played running games and on and on.

My friends and I would walk into town to have lunch or go shopping. I didn’t get a driver’s licence until I was 24. I walked or ran everywhere.

Life is a lot different now.
