That is precisely where I was going with my question. The first response was that the effect was "instantaneous", to which I replied "But that would be faster than light."

Everyone forgets about Tesla who based all of his work (as did Einstein) on the 4 vector equations (converted from field equations out of 200 by a self-educated man) giving us everything we know about the entire electromagnetic spectrum from a man who is even less well-known then Tesla and whose name and works are totally forgotten: James Clerk Maxwell, the Man Who Changed Everything.
