Carolina didn’t forget. The Denver defense dictated what the Panthers could do. All season Carolina averaged 4.4 yds on 1st down giving them short 2nd and 3rd downs. It was those short yardage situations where Newton ate defenses up with the read option. Denver shut down the 1st down running game forcing Carolina to pass on 2nd and 3rd and long. That enabled the Denver d-line to pin it’s ears back and go after the QB. They also used a LB to spy Newton most of the 1st half.

Cam, simply doesn’t have the experience yet at handling that kind of adversity. Will he ever develop it, or will he wind up as a “Flash in the Pan” like Kaepernick.

They forgot. They forgot that they were a lousy passing team but a great running team. They also forgot about the KIND of running plays worked for them up to this point.

The first 19 plays against Seattle the TOP ranked defense against scoring were 74% (14) running plays and 5 pass.

The first 19 plays against Denver were 47% (9) running plays and 10 passing plays.
