I only disagree on the aspect of “has to go broke”. SS could be phased out without breaking promises.

You're still not making sense.

I didn't volunteer to have my gym locker broken into, and my property stolen by a meth addict. Guess how much of my property I got back.

Every penny that our meth-addict government stole from you beginning in 1964 is spent. It's gone. It doesn't exist.

Our government is robbing Peter to pay Peter's grandfather. Its practice of generational robbery WILL end. The only questions are "When?" and "How socially catastrophic will it be when it happens?"

Exactly as predicted by those who foretold the failure of democracy.

Looks like the Liberals are using the English system of doling out money. The English tried to reform their system of payments. When the news reporters asked the English people what they thought of this attempt at reform the English people said that the government needed to take it away from everybody else but not for me. It appeared that the English government had managed to somehow give a structured payment to almost everybody in England whether they were unemployed, employed, old or young etc. etc. Thereby making the system impossible to reform since almost everybody in England received some type of government check.

Look up “incrementalism”. That is how the liberals got us 8nto this mess and how we will need to reverse it.

Your solution is to punish the law-abiding first. Not too prudent.

You have no idea what my solution is. I haven't offered it. In #9, I merely observed the following facts:

1) Medicare and Social Security are socialist programs.

2) All (essentially) Americans are caught up in and victimized by these programs.

3) These programs must end.

Point #3 isn't a matter of policy. It's a matter of fact. These programs WILL end whether we like it or not.

Now ... you want to talk solutions? I have some ideas, I'm sure you do too. Any real solutions must recognize that every penny of Social Security and Medicare tax collected from the inception of these programs to the present day is already spent. The money is gone. Any funds allocated to compensate us must come either from taxation or the sale of assets.

It WAS your money. It is not there. It is gone. It is being paid by IOUs taken out against your grandchildren.

those IOU's were spent in the early 2000's. The ones they are taking out now are against your great grandchildren and their own kids. There weren't enough people having kids to keep it within only 2 generations. I guess it was good that I had 4 kids, because I actually have grandchildren that can help pay off those IOU's.

YOUR money has been spent, given away; it is gone.

You are just looking for recompense from some other sucker.

Hard to argue with your observation. “Cut his, not mine” is the argument used by all until we are further into debt oblivion.

“But, noooooo, there are people out there that think I am not entitled to MY OWN F***ING MONEY!”

What you fail to understand is that it’s NOT your money. Once the government taxed you, under whatever pretext they stated, it ceased to be your money.

Any money you get is predicated on somebody else being willing to work and pay along with the governments willingness to borrow/print (on the argument that someone in the future will be willing to work/pay)

-— So you think I should just roll over and let them keep MY money? -—

The bad news is it won’t matter.

If something can’t continue, it won’t.

I’m in my fifties, expect nothing from SS and will get nothing. I’m planning on working until I croak.

I’ve told my kids that multiple generations living in one home will be the only way to survive.

That’s the future, whether we like it or not.

You seem to be talking in circles. It is my money, I want some of it back.

“You seem to be talking in circles. It is my money, I want some of it back.”

It’s NOT your money. I know they made you think it is, but it’s not. There is legal precedent on this.

I’m not trying to argue with you. That’s just the way it is.

Your wrong. If that social security money wasn’t raided it would still be there. The minute it was stolen is when it stopped being our money. What the hell...lets cut off all the social security checks today and see how that plays out. And while we are at it, why don’t we just kill everybody over 60.

It’s very difficult to get that idea across to people.

“The minute it was stolen is when it stopped being our money.”

Actually, the minute you paid it, it stopped being “your” money.

The money you are counting on to be paid to you is someone elses labor and effort - but it’s a lot bigger chunk of that labor and effort than you ever paid.

I know you “want” it. I get that. It’s just not yours - it belongs to someone else, and you are counting on the government to take it from them and give it to you.

The problem is, that they, and everyone else are taking so much that there aren’t enough “other people” to take from and pay all the “promises” people think government owes them.

What makes you think that isn’t going to happen, with exactly that result?

That is what everyone needs to realize. Government WILL cut you off when there is no more money to take/print.

“It’s very difficult to get that idea across to people.”

This is the very object lesson on my point. Government will not ever get any smaller, because everyone believes that “their” check should not be cut.
