COLUMBUS (WCMH)- Hany Baransi was at home Thursday night when he got a message from one of his cooks that a man with a machete was in his restaurant.
Baransi, the owner of Nazareth Restaurant and Deli, rush backed to work.
Employees told me he came in and looked around, asked where I was from, what food we have, where was I," said Baransi.
The question everyone continues to ask is "Why?"
The business owner is from Israel, and has his native country's flag right next to the American flag. When asked if he felt he was targeted, he said yes. "I hope I'm wrong. I hope it's not the case."
Now his focus is on the his friends, customers and future.
"For customers, thanks for the support, and live, we'll get cleaned up, you get knocked down you get up again. God bless you, and I love you," he said.
When will they establish background checks for machete purchasers?
Sounds like Pali type knife attacks are starting in the US. Innocent people and happy resturant attacked out of religious hatred. Tell me again why we should take Muslim refugees.
Oh yes, I read about this hate crime and the anti-Israeli bigotry all over the major news networks. Even the president made a statement condemning this bigotry. Hollywood actors are tweetfacing their support for this restaurant with a pound symbol , stopmuslimviolence.

I bought a new machete just the other day from the walmarts to make quick work of catfish I pull into my boat.

Why? Can we buy a clue, please. Let’s see. The perp came to the restaurant, which has an Israeli flag and a warm friendly greeting in Arabic. He asked where the owner was from, and was told he was a Christian, hence “Nazareth.” (In Arabic, Christians are called “Nazarenes” or “Nazranis,” not Christians.) He comes back in an hour with a machete bent on slaughter.
Let’s see, what could it possibly have been? Well, CBS may have cracked the case:
“CBS News has identified the suspect as Mohammad Barry, however neither 10TV nor Columbus Police have confirmed the suspect’s name. CBS News also reports Barry has a Somali background and may have traveled to Dubai in 2012.”
How can people be so naïve and dangerously foolish, after 1,400 years of bloody jihad conquest?
Is this Columbus Ohio? Since 2001 it seems like there are Muslims everywhere there.

I don’t understand; somehow a random act of violence is more acceptable? I think either way is bad.

Cold Steel makes a machete modeled after a Roman gladius. It's considered a "machete" because the blade has a flat cross section; no distal taper. A machete in name only.
I got one a Academy, and I must say, the thing is a beast with a needle sharp point. The blade is slightly flexible. It's really more of a thrusting weapon like an ancient gladius. It would suffice for chopping, but unlike a machete, it's double-edged.
Just the thing for jihadists if you don't have a firearm. They hate the sight of their own blood even more than pork.

Can you point me to the attack at Marshall’s? I used to work there. Only quit because we moved to Indy for husband’s job. Lots of Somali customers.

I can’t find any info at all about the incident at Marshall’s. Please let me know what you know. This hits very close to home for me, and I hope none of my former co-workers were hurt. We had lots of Somali customers there. It was a VERY popular shopping spot for them!
