It's a shame about all these Waffle House stories. I'm a big fan of the restaurant chain myself. Whenever I travel south on business, I make sure that I stop in at one. They are always open and always reliable for a plate of eggs and bacon with strong black coffee. I've never had an unpleasant experience in one. My only beef is they try to use margarine instead of butter. Not good! But if you ask for butter up front, they will take care of you.

The use of margarine is an automatic disqualifier. My mother used margarine for a time when I was young to save money. I could easily tell the difference even when she used it in cakes, pies, and cookies.

When she went back to butter (after my father started making a little more money), the shift back to delicious confectionaries was immediate. Margarine is awful.
