Several weeks we had masses of Starlings in the area.(westerrn suburb of Boston).

They were around for a week or two and disappeared as quickly as they had arrived.

I thought it was a bit early for migration——but I guess I was wrong.

They were fun to watch.

This is the Great Blue Heron nesting site within the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, just south of Cleveland. It is just a few yards from a paved road with turnoff and when the birds are nesting there are dozens of photographers with telephotos taking shots. Magnificent birds.

We have them in greater numbers along the Wisconsin River here, but I don’t live near enough to the river to observe them. A sighting on regular farmland is not that common here. We were astounded to drive right by that one on the fence post.

I’m about a mile from the Wisconsin River. I never get tired of watching them.

Clever of you to see through the Louisiana Heron costume he’s wearing.

Bald eagles are fairly common here in south Florida.

Drive across the state of Kansas in the fall and you will see almost every raptor that lives in the U.S........While hunting in the N.W. corner of the state, I even saw owls in the day time which I've never seen here in Michigan except on very rare occasions...

Thanks for the pics/info. 3 robins outside my window in metro Detroit all week. I’ve never seen robins here in February before.

Balds are common in North FL as well. They are mainly seen hanging out around the river or intracoastal.

I skidded on ice off a dirt road @ 3 am a couple of weeks ago (on my way to work) and had to walk back home (2 miles). A couple of owls in the trees above were laughing at me in the still of the morning. I hooted back, but they weren’t impressed with the idiot walking.

Pretty photos. I got a cell phone snap of a Pileated Woodpecker last week. We have a pair of them. Don’t see them often, so it’s a thrill when I do.

One day last fall I was outdoors and I see this BIG bird incoming - and it got lower and lower and bigger! LOL, it was a blue heron and it flew very low right over my head to land in a stream about 75 ft away. I was excited to see it as we don’t usually have them land in that stream.
