Labs #1 except at the snobby dog shows, for example, Westminster.

Because of a lack of diversity in winners, I am calling for this event to be postponed indefinitely!

If I had children, this is the only breed I would consider. The “good ‘ol boy” of the dog world. Sweet-natured, loves children, and ready to play just by reaching for that tennis ball. Down side is most are as dumb as a bag of hair. Think Jethro Bodine with 4 legs...

Same with Golden Retriever. They just shed more.

The black one on the left shows how hard it is to photograph Black Labs—their facial features tend to be absorbed by the black background. OTOH BlCk Lab puppies are the cutest, most appealing of all because they look like animated blobs of black India rubber, almost totally devoid of limbs and with pink tongues sticking out of the blackness.

Mine was absolutely nuts. He broke onto film sets, once dived into a lake in Asbury Park, NJ, tried to eat a dead seagull on the beach, got his head stuck in buckets and used to eat light bulbs. Sweet but a complete nut.

Yellow Lab was one of the best dogs I ever had as a friend. I have a Standard Poodle now that is just as smart and friendly. Both breeds had the propensity to eat weird stuff that I had to help remove from them.

Just adopted a 1 year old yellow lab a couple weeks ago.
He’s silly as can be.

I have had one chocolate (a moron), 3 blacks, and a yellow. The yellow was the best one hands down.

I agree , it's difficult to photo dark subjects ... you need a mix of directional lighting to show the contours and an overall high level of diffused light... and then you have the contrast issues.. it took me a while to find a reasonably sized good pic of a black lab...

And I assume you would not have had it any other way.

Everything you note sounds absolutely glorious.
